I travel two hours each way to have Emily cut my hair. I have alopecia and she understands the problems and the solutions to cutting thin hair. She is great to work with - responsive, fun ,and oh so talented. I love her haircuts. Highest recommendation!

Emily has a special ability to hold space in a way that is light and welcoming. When I joined her hair loss support group a few years ago, I was coming from a deep well of isolation, shame, and obsession surrounding my alopecia. Being able to connect with other women sharing similar struggles, and witnessing each other’s growth and vulnerability have truly been a gift. It’s been essential in opening a path of acceptance for me.

I have always been deeply ashamed of my hair loss from trichotillomania, which stopped me from getting haircuts for years. Then I found Emily and everything changed! At my first appointment, I was so nervous to reveal but she made me feel so comfortable. I love getting a haircut with Emily - I would never consider going to anyone else! She consistently nails my haircut - I walk out feeling refreshed, confident, and happy. Beyond that, she's a caring, supportive, fun part of my life! Emily is one of the most skilled therapy group leaders I've had the pleasure to work with (and I've been a part of so many groups! I always felt seen and heard by her - and she facilitates the group in such a way that feels welcoming and effective for people at all stages of their healing journey. I appreciate that Emily is always learning how to be most supportive to her group members - she's always learning new techniques and approaches, which just shows how dedicated she is to this work.

At the time we opened, the salon was full service, offering haircuts and chemical/color services.

Our original staff, Philip (Moxie), Crisby (NYC), Ally (creating and adventuring), Liz, (Harper Paige Salon), Sara (sarahix.com) continue to be my salon family, and forever friends.

Not sure if folks still rely on Yelp for reviews, or if they’ve moved onto other sites like Google Reviews, and such. Where ever you decide to review this solo iteration of my salon, I am filled with gratitude. Thank you for allowing me to play with your hair for the last 20 years.
